There is a bright light on the West Orange horizon, and it illuminates our whole township and beyond. What makes it bright?
Of course I'm talking about our own West Orange Public Library, the place where bright ideas begin. It may be hard to believe that our library’s circulation is among the largest in Essex County, with 400,000 items borrowed among 25,000 active borrowers. Our library excels at providing resources and programs that enhance our lives and broaden our horizons daily. The West Orange Public Library Foundation Fund supports the library’s ability to serve our community through additional funding for programming and for a planned new library facility. Last year, the Foundation raised funds that helped to underwrite the key event in the library’s summer Laugh a Minute program, bringing the Great American Old Tyme Circus to town. Laugh a Minute was the library’s biggest and most successful summer program ever, with more than 1,800 participants and special reading events with great prizes, community service projects, art programs, and more. The Foundation is also a sponsor of special workshops in the computer lab. Your gift to the West Orange Public Library Foundation Fund helps support these types of highquality, community-building programs—programs that help each of us be the best and brightest we can be. What’s more, your gift will help lay the groundwork for a new public library building slated to illuminate the Edison battery factory, making our community brighter and better.
